Winter Shimmer

I don't think that there's anything that brightens up a dreary day quite like a little shimmer. Okay, maybe more than a little. But I can help it! I'm completely shimmer and glitter obsessed. I'm not sure why, I never used to be. But that past year, I haven't been able to get enough of it.
Some of these products have a lot of shimmer, and some not so much. A lot of these are also really old, but I did my best to find a link to them somewhere on the Internet. And some of them are new, but the links wouldn't work, so I had to look elsewhere.
This polish has a high concentration of very fine glitter. I love the ladylike colour, and the texture really stands out. The colour also seems to change depending on what light it's in. It was one of my first textured polishes, and I absolutely love it.
The one I linked to isn't the same as the one in the photo, but it looks quite similar. I quite like pairing this shadow with a more natural makeup look and a generous helping of mascara. While the cream formula of the pink really enhances the colour, I find that it's not too overwhelming.
This is certainly not a product for those scared of loud makeup. It's extremely pigmented and really stands out. While not something I'd choose for everyday use, I think it's a gorgeous shadow. If you're not afraid of glitter, I think it's perfect!
I swatched this in this post. While this is very different from the first polish, I think that it's very pretty. It has larger glitters but is still classy and feminine. It came in a set with a polish to layer it over, but I think that it could be very versatile.
I'm officially in love with this palette. Though not all of the shadows are shimmery, I felt the need to include it in this post. I think that the shades are both elegant and natural, and quite easy to wear. This palette may require a post of it's own, so if you'd like one, please let me know!
Mark First Blush
The highlighter in this is amazing. It's very reflective, so if you use to much of it, it looks a little clown like. If you use the right amount, however, it adds a gorgeous radiance to your skin.It also has the cutest floral packaging.
This is the gloss that made me fall in love with lip glosses. I use this when I want to go for a nude lip, it makes my lips look fuller and adds a little extra shine to them. Most glosses make me feel rather childish, but this one can look elegant if you don't use to much.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favourite shimmery products?

Flowers + Lace

Ever since I got this dress last spring, I've been dying to wear it in the autumn leaves. And while I did, I was to busy to take photos of it.The snow totally sneaked up on me! I've been wanting to try taking photos in my room for a while, so I thought that this would be the perfect time to try it. I'm actually really happy with how they turned out.
I love everything about this dress. I love the 3/4 sleeve length, and the skater cut of it. I also love the sound it makes when I walk: the sound of rustling leaves. That may just be the fabric, but what's a pretty dress without an imagination to go with it?
I love these shoes, too. They're kinda cheaply made and not all that good for walking in, but they're oh so cute! I've been looking for a good pair of oxfords, so I had to pick them up when I saw them in a thrift store.
I got these socks last autumn, and never really wore them. Now I'm not sure why! They're super cozy, even under pajama pants.
This necklace was originally an earring, but I've been wearing it as a necklace ever since October. I'm not sure why, but I love it! Maybe it's because it seems so magical.

Noirvember Review

I'm not sure if any of you know, but I'm absolutely obsessed with old movies. It might be because I grew up on them, it's all me and my parent watched when I was little.
When I heard about Noirvember, a whole month for film noirs, I though that I had to watch some. I only got through four, but I have many more from the library, just sitting on my shelf waiting to be watched. I thought I'd share a little review of the four I watched, if any of you are interested!

Double Indemnity 1944
"How could I have known that murder sometimes smells like honeysuckle?"
Personally, I think this is a perfect introduction to film noir, and it's the first one I started with.
Phyllis Dietrichson is stuck in a loveless marriage. Walter Neff is an insurance agent who comes to her house about her husband's car insurance. When Walter convinces her to purchase and accident insurance policy for her husband and then kill him, she takes his help. He helps her to receive twice the normal payment with a double indemnity clause, and aids her in the murder. But can they get away with it?
Laura 1944
"I don't know a lot about anything, but I know a little about a lot of things"
Detective Mark McPherson has been called to investigate the murder of the beautiful Laura Hunt, found dead in her apartment. He learns more about her life by interviewing her friend, the rich Waldo Lydecker, and her fiance, Shelby Carpenter. But when Laura herself appears, the mystery takes a whole different turn. Who was the murdered girl? And why was she killed?
This Gun For Hire 1942
"What's the matter? You look like you've been on a hayride with Dracula."
Hit man Phillip Raven kills a blackmailer and is payed by his employer in marked money. Ellen Gram, a performer and the girlfriend of the cop after Raven, is employed to help investigate Raven's employer. However, when Ellen comes face to face with Raven, the situation becomes even more of a mess.
Niagara 1953
"Let me tell you something. You're young, you're in love. Well, I'll give you a warning. Don't let it get out of hand, like those falls up there. Up above...d'you ever see the river up above the falls? It's calm, it's easy, any you throw in a log, it just floats around. Let it move a little further down and it get going faster, hits some rocks, and..in a minute it's in the lower rapids, and..nothing in the world - including God himself, I suppose - can keep in from going over the edge. It just - goes."
Two very different couples are on vacation in Niagara: Rose and George Loomis, and Polly and Ray Cutler. Rose and George have a dangerous relationship- George is prone to vicious mood swings, especially when he suspects Rose of fooling around with another guy. And when Rose plots to kill her husband, Polly gets sucked into the crime, purely by accident.

Have you watched any of these? What's your favourite film noir?

How I Decorate With Flowers

I'm not sure if I'm really qualified to write this post. Yes, I do dearly love flowers and love the way they look in my room. But do I really decorate with them? No.
When I heard of BloomNation, a flower delivery service that promotes local florists, I thought that I'd share my opinion on decorating with flowers. I love the idea of having beautiful blooms delivered straight to my door, as I'm often very busy and don't have time to go out and buy them.

In the summer, the flowers I had mainly consisted of the wildflowers in my backyard. I'd simply trim them and put them in a jar with a little bit of ribbon on it, which I think is really cute. Sometimes I'd colour coordinate the flowers that I picked, but there really was no rhyme or reason to them.

And maybe that's because of who I am. Maybe that's because I see flowers as something wild and free. Do I think that carefully arranged and handpicked bouquets are bad? I most certainly do not. I think that they can be beautiful and creative. But for me, they simply aren't a necessity. I think that flowers in any form are beautiful, and they all have a place in my house. I'm I getting to deep with this? Probably. But is that going to stop me? No.
Unfortunately, I simply cannot let flowers have free reign over my house for one simple reason: I have a cat. And more than anything, I want to make sure my cat stays healthy. How I fix this, though, is by keeping flowers out of his reach (and let me tell you, there aren't very many places that are out of his reach), or by putting them in cute little cages like the one pictured above.
If you'd like to find out how to make your flowers last longer, this post is really helpful!

Gingerbread Breakfast Quinoa

Around a week ago, I had already made this recipe a few times.I thought that it was a wonderful breakfast, and I had already decided that I was going to make it again. And in all honesty, I probably still will.
Then, that morning, my friend had told me that he had made gingerbread overnight oats. You see, it was early November, and both of us had decided to fully immerse ourselves in the Christmas spirit. Seeing his gingerbread overnight oats, I thought that that was something that I could do. But instead of oats, I'd make it quinoa. I'm celiac, and though I'm allowed to have gluten-free oats now, I haven't tried them. So, instead, I decided to put a holiday spin on one of my favourite recipes.
Makes 4 servings

You Will Need:
 - 1 cup uncooked white quinoa
- 2 cups coconut milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1 tsp molasses
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Toppings (optional)
- Raisins
- Chia seeds
- Pumpkin seeds

1. In a saucepan on medium heat, mix together your quinoa and your milk. Bring to a boil, then let sit at a simmer for around 20 minutes, stirring occasionally

2. When you feel that your quinoa is cooked, add in your molasses, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla extract.

3. I usually leave my quinoa in the fridge overnight and warm it up in the morning. I usually add more milk and sugar, and whatever toppings I feel like. Have fun with it!

If you try this, I would love for you to let me know. What are your favourite winter breakfasts?

Blushing Burgundy

I've already started dressing like it's autumn! But to be fair, where I live, autumn only lasts until mid to late November. I can already feel the chill in the air, even though the Autumn equinox hasn't happened yet.
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of second hand shopping. I usually don't buy clothes at garage sales, but this skirt caught my eye. Burgundy is one of my favourite colours, especially for autumn. And I love the button detailing on the front!
As soon as I saw this hat in American Eagle, I knew it was for me. I've been trying to grow my hat collection, as right now it's pitifully small. I think that bowler hats are so cute, but I try not to look like Charlie Chaplin in them! (There's nothing wrong with Charlie Chaplin, that's just not the look I'm going for).
I got this sweater last year, and it's perfect for winter. It's pretty heavy and chunky, and that means I don't have to wear a jacket with it in autumn! Honestly, who doesn't love a cozy sweater?
You can probably tell that these shoes are pretty old, but they're my favourites. I pull them out every autumn and wear them with practically everything until it gets too cold.

How To: Whimsical Braid

You may be wondering why I call this whimsical. It's just messy, you say. Well, I raise to you this question: do you think that faeries would have time to make their hair nice and neat? I don't think that they would. I do think, though, that they would take the time to stop and put some fresh flowers in their hair.
Before we start, I'd like to say that I'm by no means a hair expert. If this doesn't work for you, that's ok! If you have an idea on how I could do something better, I'm all ears.
 You Will Need:
♥ A clear elastic
♥ Bobby pins
♥ Fresh flowers (optional)
♥ Lots of time and patience to let your hair dry
1. Starting with wet hair, make a simple braid. Don't worry about it being neat, mine certainly isn't.
2. Wait for your hair to dry (this may take a few hours). Your braid should be fuller and have more volume.
3. To make your braid even bigger, use your fingers to gently pull it apart.
4. Intertwine your flowers in your braid and use bobby pins to keep them in place. I cut some sweet peas from my backyard and placed them from darkest to lightest, but do whatever works for you. You could also use paper flowers if you'd like.

If you try this I would love to know! You can leave a comment down below or email me at littlemoondragon@outlook.com.

Also, please let me know if you have any hair tutorial requests ♥

My Summer Nail Picks

Is it summer already? It seems like it was January just yesterday! How fast this part of the year has gone by.
Anyways, I'd like to share with you my four top nail picks for summer! I know that some of them look a little more appropriate for spring, but I adore pastels. I'm not a huge fan of bright colours, with a few exceptions. Anyways, let's get to the polishes!
I got this polish for my birthday a few years ago, and I absolutely love it! Its a super sheer light pink, and though you can build it up, I really like using it as a more nude polish.
Essie in Serial Shopper
I've been loving this fun coral shade lately! I've seen a bunch of people wearing shades like this, and I thought it was time to pull it out of my coral collection.
I mentioned this polish a little while ago in my December favourites post, but I've refound my love for it. Both the colour and the texture is just perfect.
Avon MegaWatt Nail Enamel in Electric
I got this bright purple some time ago, and I think that it's perfect for summer. It's one of the few bright colours that I actually like.

Have you tried any of these polishes before? What are your favourite colours for summer?

Spring Sunshine

Hello Lovelies!
I thought I'd share another little outfit with you since it's finally starting to feel like spring, even though there's still a little snow. That being said, I can finally go outside without a jacket on!
Ever since I got this dress last year, I've been obsessed with it. It's my ultimate little black dress, except it's, well, grey. I've been wearing it all autumn and winter and will definitely be wearing it into the spring.
I just got the hat about a week or two ago, and I'm obsessed with it. I've been wanting to get a floppy hat for ages, and finally did when me and my friends went shopping.
I got the scarf last spring, but started wearing it a lot this winter because it's so cozy. I'll be sad to put it away for spring!
I also love this ring! I picked it up at a farmers market, and I can't remember the name of the stall for the life of me. It's definitely one of my favourite pieces, it always reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
I got the boots ages ago, which is why they're so dirty, They're really worn, but they're still some of my favourite boots!
Also, I barely ever wear my hair up. This is the first time in quite a while that I wore braids!
Have a great weekend everyone! If it's just as spring like where you live, you should totally go outside and take advantage of the lovely weather ♥
