{Review} Lush Butterball Bath Bomb

We all have those kind of nights. The rainy ones at the end of a long week that you can't wait to spend doing absolutely nothing. You're planning on a musical or another movie, maybe just some Netflix. But before that, you're going to take a wonderful, relaxing bath. You reach for the Bath Bomb that you've kept in the cupboard for a day just like today.
The one that I found was the Lush Butterball bath bomb. The first thing that I  noticed about this was the design. Simple, but that's ok with me. I wasn't quite sure what this one smelled like- it said vanilla and cacao butter on the site but I didn't really smell either of those.
The look of this bath bomb in the water didn't wow me. I was expecting maybe a white or a cream colour, but it didn't really give that. I just looked like I had really soapy water, or a bubble bath that left it like that. The smell didn't last very long, either, and it was really subtle.
The first thing my friend said upon seeing these photos was "you got a Lush bath bomb??" with a mixture of shock, confusion, and a little bit of disgust. That was followed by "it looks like dirty bath water" delivered with laughter and a little pity. I have to agree with her on this one, it most certainly does look like dirty bath water.
Overall, I didn't like this bath bomb. I pity, because I hate writing negative reviews and this is the only disappointing product I've tried from Lush. It didn't do much for my relaxing night, either.

Have you tried this bath bomb before? What do you think of it?

  1. I've tried bath bombs before but usually take the ones from little shops around my city or body shop, never tried lush before and I guess I won't haha. Thank you for the honest review!

  3. I've never tried this particular one before, although I do go to Lush regularly. I'm surprised that this was disappointing (though it certainly looks that way) as Lush never usually disappoint!

  6. I've never tried Lush's bathbombs before, but I've definitely read all the rave and every time I walk in the shop I am tempted to buy all the pretty ones! So sorry to hear this one didn't work for you though! Maybe their galaxy one will be much more of a show stopper?

  11. Ive been wanting to try this bath bomb for a while, from most of the other reviews I've read I've gathered that it doesn't look or smell amazing but it's reaalllyy good at moisturising and softening your skin - did it not do this for you then?

    1. Thank you Alice! It did soften my skin a little, but it wan't really noticeable. Maybe it was because this one was slightly old? ♥

  13. What a disappointment! It does look like dirty bath water, which is never appealing when you're taking a bath to get "clean"

I've never heard of a bad Bath Bomb so I'm a bit surprised. Too bad!

  15. What does it smell like to you if not vanilla? I prefer the bath bombs that don't have glitter so this one could work for me.

    1. I'm not quite sure...there is a little vanilla but a little more of the ylang ylang oil. It's overall a really nice scent! ♥

  17. I agree with your review. I tried the exact same one and was hoping it would be good since there's a Lush store right near me but it was disappointing for the very reasons you cite. I admire your honesty. We need more of that in blog-reviews.
